The Membership Manager at Hagley Museum and Library holds a pivotal role responsible for steering the overall strategy and daily management of Hagley's membership program. This full-time, exempt position, with a salary range of $50,000.00 to $55,000.00 depending on experience, focuses on growing and maintaining an active, engaged membership base currently numbering approximately 2,000 members. The role demands expertise in membership marketing, fulfillment, donor acknowledgment, and member benefits administration, as well as robust data reporting and analysis for informed decision-making.
In addition to overseeing membership operations including sales, renewals, retention strategies, and KPI tracking, the Membership Manager works closely with the Marketing and Design teams to craft promotional campaigns aligned with broader institutional goals. This position plays an integral role in supporting key member-focused events such as Fireworks at Hagley held on the second and third Fridays in June, and the Golden Pheasants Game Dinner, a mid-winter highlight featuring ticket sales management, recognition activities, and auction logistics.
The manager is also responsible for financial oversight, including the creation and monitoring of the membership and event budgets, ensuring precise data management in collaboration with database administrators using Blackbaud/Altru, and providing comprehensive reports to track program growth and highlight membership trends. Leadership and collaboration extend internally as the role involves working with frontline staff, volunteers, and various departments to enhance recruitment, retention, and member engagement.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills are crucial for success in this role, along with a proven ability to deliver exceptional guest service and maintain professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Key responsibilities also include assisting development efforts, supporting donor stewardship, and contributing to the fulfillment of Hagley’s mission through effective membership programming. The role requires a commitment to working both independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team environment, managing multiple priorities with attention to detail and diplomacy.
Physical and working conditions include a mostly sedentary office environment with occasional requirements to stand, lift up to 50 pounds, and work outdoors during special events and programs, including evenings and weekends. - High School diploma/GED required
- 3 years’ experience in museum membership, fundraising, or similar institutional development operations
- Working knowledge of Blackbaud/Altru preferred
