The Warehouse Generalist role at C&S Wholesale Grocers encompasses a dynamic and versatile set of responsibilities vital for maintaining efficient warehouse operations. This position requires the individual to be flexible and able to perform various job functions within the warehouse environment, including working as a Selector, Dock Worker, Palletizer, Warehouse Clerk, Forklift Operator, Backhauler, and Porter. The role is heavily involved in picking products manually and using mechanical equipment such as order pickers, electric pallet jacks, pallet wrapping machines, and stand-up forklifts to fulfill customer orders accurately and safely. Key duties involve preparing pallets by carefully arranging products to minimize damage and securing them with plastic wrap, operating machinery to move stock, and maintaining clean and safe warehouse aisles and workspaces. This position is critical in ensuring smooth warehouse workflows, requiring great attention to detail and an ability to work independently or as part of a team. The Warehouse Generalist will record daily activities utilizing voice-command technology, pick sheets, and radio frequency computer terminals to keep inventory data accurate. The environment includes working in different warehouse temperature zones, ranging from freezer areas at -20 to 0 degrees Fahrenheit to perishable and grocery zones with temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Physical stamina is essential as this role includes frequent lifting and handling of merchandise up to 60 pounds, along with activities such as crouching, climbing, pushing, and pulling.
