It offers myriad performance opportunities to students through its Music ensembles and Theatre AUG programs, weaving arts deeply into campus life.
The Production Coordinator role at the Maxwell Theatre is a critical position designed for a technical theater expert who plays a pivotal role in supporting the engagement and retention of students through direct student employment and facilities management. This full-time position, based at Augusta University’s Health Sciences and Summerville Campuses, commands a wide range of responsibilities encompassing technical support for events, supervision of student technical staff, coordination of event logistics from initial inquiry through post-event follow-up, and ensuring all safety protocols and university policies are strictly adhered to.
This role involves managing the entire technical spectrum of performances including sound, lighting, projection, video/audio recording, streaming, and stage management activities such as set building and striking, load-ins, and load-outs. Events hosted vary widely and include plays, concerts, lectures, recitals, dance, film exhibitions, and rental client activities, reflecting the diverse applications of the Maxwell Theatre's facilities.
The Production Coordinator will also directly supervise student technicians, handling hiring, scheduling, training, evaluations, and disciplinary actions, ensuring compliance with mandated university and safety training programs. The position requires strong independent decision-making skills, especially in risk management and maintaining event safety, along with a commitment to fostering collaborative relationships within the university community.
The role operates within a dynamic, often fast-paced theatrical environment, necessitating flexibility to work days, evenings, and weekends as dictated by production schedules. The salary range for this position is $45,400 to $50,000 annually, commensurate with qualifications, classified under Pay Band B8.                 - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
 - At least one year of experience in a multi-use venue with plays, concerts, lectures, and other events
