The position of Porter within the Brooklyn Day Services program is an integral role aimed at maintaining the cleanliness and orderly condition of the facility. This full-time role operates Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 10:30 am, offering a $17.50 per hour wage. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preserving a clean and safe environment for both staff and participants, adhering strictly to CDC cleanliness guidelines. Responsibilities extend to cleaning and disinfecting common areas including bathrooms, kitchens, and recreational spaces, as well as routine tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and managing supplies. The role requires an individual who is capable of multitasking and handling physical duties like moving heavy objects, demonstrating reliability and attention to detail. Environmental hygiene is paramount in this role to reduce health risks and foster a welcoming atmosphere, especially important in a facility assisting individuals with special needs. The Porter will play an active role in emergency cleanup situations, organizing refuse disposal, and maintaining up-to-date cleaning logs to ensure transparency and accountability. This position is also a key part of the team dynamic, requiring the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with peers, colleagues, and leadership. Additionally, the Porter will be expected to complete monthly trainings and mandatory New York State Mandated OPWDD initial trainings to stay compliant with regulatory standards.
