The Food Service Representative role at H-E-B is an essential position that plays a crucial part in maintaining an inviting and well-stocked department in the store. Food Service Representatives are responsible for preparing, packaging, and merchandising fresh food products daily while complying with all food safety and sanitation standards. Specialized tasks for departments such as Bakery involve recording production data and assisting with baking processes, while Deli responsibilities include managing service counters and handling catering orders. In Prepared Foods, duties include serving customers, educating them on food preparation, and assisting chefs with food prep tasks.
Partners in this role must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and complete company orientation and food safety training. Physical requirements vary by department but generally include standing, walking, bending, lifting heavy items, and working in various environmental conditions such as cold or hot areas. The role requires knowledge of computer systems and equipment such as scales and label machines, along with strong organizational skills.
