This position is an outside sales role within Sysco's world-class sales team, designed for experienced sales professionals, restaurant managers, culinary managers, or chefs looking to develop their careers further. The role focuses on promoting Sysco’s products and services, building and maintaining strong relationships with both new and existing accounts. In this role, the outside sales professional will develop new business opportunities, penetrate existing accounts, and minimize lost business to achieve profitable sales growth within an assigned territory. The professional will be expected to qualify prospects, research customers’ business needs, and tailor product and service mixes to meet those needs effectively. Staying informed about market trends, new product innovations, and competitors' offerings is crucial to provide added value to customers. The role involves answering questions about products, prices, availability, and usage, and providing practical training to customer personnel to enhance customer satisfaction. The sales professional will also be responsible for managing deliveries in conjunction with the transportation department and troubleshooting any logistical issues.
This role requires some non-traditional working hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet customer needs. It also involves administrative duties such as preparing sales budgets and reports, processing credits, generating sales quotes and menu suggestions, and maintaining sales records. Successful candidates will participate actively in company events, promotions, and training sessions, including assisting with the onboarding of new employees when required. Communication with the credit department to collect accounts receivable and resolve payment issues is also part of the job.
