The Assistant Manager/Shift Lead role at Military Deli & Bakery Services is a full-time, hands-on leadership position pivotal to maintaining the day-to-day success of our deli and bakery departments within the military commissaries. This role demands a commitment to exceptional customer service, operational excellence, and team leadership. Successful applicants will work primarily in mid to close evening shifts, including weekends, ensuring that service and quality standards are consistently met or exceeded. Assistant Managers at MDBS play a crucial role in overseeing department operations, assisting the Deli/Bakery Manager in leadership responsibilities, and managing a team of 5 to 10 employees. Core responsibilities include directing staff activities, maintaining the highest levels of food safety and sanitation, managing inventory and reports, and helping to maximize departmental profits while adhering to commissary policies. This is a dynamic, fast-paced role suited for motivated individuals who thrive in collaborative environments and advocate for superior customer experiences in the military community. The position requires a valid Food Safety Management Certification or the willingness to acquire one within 30 days of hire, reflecting our unwavering commitment to food safety and compliance. The Assistant Manager/Shift Lead also serves as a crucial link between MDBS and commissary management, maintaining professional communication to support financial and operational objectives. • 2+ years grocery or food service experience
• Previous shift lead or management experience
• Ability to stand and walk short distances for entire shift
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation
