We are currently seeking a highly qualified Prep Cook to join our culinary team. This role is critical in supporting the delivery of excellent food service tailored specifically to meet the dietary needs and preferences of our elderly population. The Prep Cook will work under the guidance of the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs to prepare food according to menus and recipes approved by the culinary leadership. Adherence to current Federal, State, and local food safety standards, guidelines, and regulations is paramount in this role. The Prep Cook position is a full-time role with a scheduled shift from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and candidates must be flexible to work varying days including weekends and holidays as needed. This role demands dedication, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a genuine passion for providing nutritious and appealing meals to senior residents. Responsibilities include maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area, preparing food items following planned menus and recipes, ensuring proper nutrition, portion control, and food presentation, and maintaining proper sanitation and safety in food preparation areas. The role also involves assisting in cleaning kitchen equipment and facilities, consulting with culinary leadership on menu and care planning, and participating in staff meetings and in-service training sessions. Candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED and have at least one year of experience in a high-volume, high-end food service environment, preferably within the long-term care industry, assisted living, or memory support settings. Current Food Handler's Certification is required. The ideal candidate should demonstrate excellent communication skills, the ability to work courteously and compassionately with the elderly, and a strong commitment to resident rights and discretion in handling sensitive health information.
