The Town of Clayton is currently seeking a dedicated and customer-focused individual to join its Customer Service Department as a Part-Time Customer Service Cashier. This role is based at the Town Hall in Clayton, NC, and requires an employee who can provide exceptional reception, customer service, administrative support, and account receivable work. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing high volumes of public interactions via phone, in person, and email, requiring a high level of tact, courtesy, and conflict resolution skills. The role involves detailed knowledge of customer service policies and procedures, and the ability to work collaboratively with other town departments to ensure smooth operation and customer satisfaction. This position is part-time, with hours from 12:30 pm to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, and offers a competitive hourly pay rate of $18.00. The work involves establishing new customer accounts, handling payments, processing utility payments, and assisting with billing and account inquiries. Additional responsibilities include daily cash handling, reconciling cash drawers, closing out customer accounts, and managing customer complaints and requests with professionalism and efficiency. The role also includes marketing specific town programs, such as load management and energy loan programs, to enhance community engagement. Candidates should have strong organizational skills to maintain accurate records, reports, and files, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with office technologies, financial spreadsheets, and the ability to operate standard office machinery including computers, telephone systems, credit card terminals, copiers, and fax machines is essential.
