This job opportunity is for a Kitchen Supervisor role within AC Hotel Phoenix Tempe/Downtown by Marriott. The position is integral to the hotel's food and beverage operations, overseeing kitchen management to ensure exquisite food preparation, presentation, and compliance with safety standards. Serving as a working supervisor, the role requires a hands-on approach to cooking and managing kitchen staff across multiple meal services, including breakfast, dinner, and special banquet functions. The Kitchen Supervisor will spearhead initiatives to maintain high standards of food quality, cleanliness, and operational efficiency. This ensures all meals served meet the guest expectations in terms of taste, presentation, and timeliness.
Key responsibilities include managing daily kitchen operations, maintaining compliance with food safety regulations, supporting efficient service during high demand, and training back-of-house staff to meet company standards. The candidate will also be responsible for inventory management, assisting with food cost controls, and upholding rigorous sanitation protocols. - Valid current food handlers card or willingness to obtain within 30 days
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as recipes, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Must demonstrate positive attitude and professional demeanor
- Requires communication and interpersonal skills and commitment to a high level of guest satisfaction
- 1-2 years proven kitchen experience in a supervisory role preferred
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and flexible AM/PM shifts according to business demands
- Knowledge of restaurant establishment back of house
- Computer savvy in Microsoft applications
- Ability to lead others by mentoring and providing training
- Positive contributions to team and morale
- Ability to work under pressure at a fast pace
- Compliance with safety policies including wearing non-slip oil resistant shoes and use of PPE
- Willingness to work in varying schedules reflecting business needs including holidays and weekends
- Physical capability to stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in hot/cold environments
