This role focuses on a Traffic or ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) Engineer position, designed to support a hybrid work model across various offices in the Greater Midwest and Greater Southwest regions. The role provides an exciting opportunity to join a talented team working on high-profile projects that shape local and regional communities. The engineer will be involved in key responsibilities including traffic analysis, forecasting, safety studies, traffic simulations, and conceptual planning and design, offering vital contributions to traffic and transportation infrastructure. Candidates in this role will engage in preparing plan sheets, specifications, estimates, technical memoranda, reports, presentations, and other essential project documentation. They will also lead and support ITS or emerging technology projects while following rigorous systems engineering processes. The position involves serving in multiple roles across traffic and ITS projects, collaborating actively with early in career staff, conducting technical reviews, and ensuring tasks are completed on schedule and within budget while complying with AECOM’s quality standards. This role requires coordination with interdisciplinary teams within AECOM as well as with external clients and sub-consultants, requiring excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and self-management abilities. The engineer will be expected to independently complete primary design elements while working closely with business development teams to help secure new project opportunities.   • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or related field
  • at least 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ability to obtain Professional Engineer license within 6 months if not already licensed
  • proficiency with traffic analysis and simulation software
  • excellent communication and time management skills
  • capability to work collaboratively and independently
  • must comply with relevant Agency and DOT standards
