OHLA USA is currently seeking an experienced Safety Manager to join their team in East Elmhurst, New York. This is a full-time role reporting directly to the Regional Safety Director, with a competitive salary range of $110,000 to $150,000 per year. The Safety Manager will be instrumental in ensuring that all safety protocols and OSHA regulations are meticulously followed on job sites, supporting the overall safety culture within the company. This role involves close collaboration with project leadership teams, site safety coordinators, and subcontractors to maintain the highest standards of safety compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy civil construction safety management, demonstrated leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to hazard identification and mitigation. In this role, the Safety Manager will develop and implement site-specific safety programs tailored to the unique needs of each project. They will oversee multiple site safety coordinators, providing ongoing training, mentoring, and resources to support their effectiveness. The Safety Manager will be responsible for conducting thorough safety orientations for all new employees, ensuring every individual understands the safety expectations and procedures. Regular safety meetings, job briefings, and inspections will be part of their daily agenda to monitor safety conditions and enforce compliance consistently. This position also involves investigating incidents, managing claims with the Claims Manager, and maintaining detailed safety records to support continuous improvement.   • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum five years’ experience in heavy civil construction safety management
  • Current OSHA 30-hour Construction training
  • NYC DOB SST 62-hour and 40-hour Site Safety Manager certifications
  • SSPC/AMPP C-3/C-5 Competent Person Lead Removal certification
  • NYS DOL Asbestos Inspector License
  • MTA NYCT Track Training Certification
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to conduct safety training and jobsite inspections
  • Ability to investigate and report incidents
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Previous MTA experience
