The role of Medical Front Desk Receptionist at NYCBS is a critical position that serves as the welcoming face of the clinic. This position is based in Brooklyn, NY, and operates Monday through Friday with an 8.5-hour shift scheduled between 7 AM and 7 PM. The Medical Front Desk Receptionist is entrusted with key responsibilities that maintain smooth front office operations and enhance patient experience. Responsibilities include managing daily office opening and closing procedures, greeting patients and visitors warmly and professionally, assisting patients in completing necessary forms, and ensuring the reception area is comforting and well-maintained. The position requires strong communication skills to answer telephones, respond to inquiries, and schedule patient appointments efficiently. Attention to detail is critical as the receptionist collects copays, balances office finances daily, and maintains accurate patient records using the practice’s Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system. The receptionist also collaborates with nursing staff to monitor messages from care team inboxes and ensures that patient visit lists are up-to-date to guarantee timely scheduling of appointments. HIPAA compliance is a central tenet of this role, safeguarding patient privacy and confidentiality in all practices. In addition to routine tasks, the receptionist supports quality assurance by distributing surveys and prevention screening information, and contributes to special projects as assigned. Team collaboration is emphasized, with flexibility for the receptionist to transition smoothly into related daily roles as needed to maintain office efficiency and patient satisfaction.
