The Department Manager role at World Wide Wings is a pivotal position within the company’s management team, with specific responsibilities tailored to different operational areas, including the Heart of House, Bar, and Hospitality departments. This role is crucial in overseeing daily restaurant operations, managing staff, and ensuring all departmental goals align with the company’s standards for quality, safety, and profitability. Department Managers work closely with the General Manager and other leadership personnel to drive business success through strategic planning, team development, and effective resource management.
The Heart of House Department Manager is primarily responsible for the kitchen and food production areas, ensuring that all food and product matters are handled efficiently and safely. They lead the HOH staff in planning and development, and work to maintain safety and compliance with health regulations. The Bar Department Manager oversees adult beverage operations, including inventory control and compliance with Responsible Alcohol Service regulations, while also focusing on team hiring, training, and motivation. The Hospitality Manager focuses on dining room service, managing hospitality team planning and development to elevate the guest experience.
Across all departments, managers are accountable for staffing decisions, training, and continuous development of their teams to meet the staffing guidelines and training certifications. They create schedules that balance labor costs with business needs and develop incentive programs to motivate team members. They are also responsible for performance feedback and appraisals, coaching direct reports, and maintaining departmental communication to uphold service standards and guest satisfaction.
In operational aspects, the Heart of House Manager ensures adherence to food quality standards, vendor communication, recipe and portion control, and consistent application of company systems. Similarly, the Bar Manager maintains quality control of bar products and equipment, oversees inventory accurately, and drives sales growth through promotions and contests. The Hospitality Manager lends support to marketing efforts and builds sales through incentive programs.
Financially, Department Managers are tasked with managing food and labor costs within prescribed limits, accurately maintaining inventory, and developing action plans based on performance metrics such as Profit and Loss statements and Guest Experience Management feedback. They actively troubleshoot operational issues and implement strategies to improve profitability and service quality.
Candidates must bring a strong desire to create an engaging and fun atmosphere for both guests and team members, paired with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This role requires a minimum of two years of restaurant or retail management experience, preferably with a full bar operation, and the capability to meet physical demands such as lifting and handling supplies. Certification through the Buffalo Wild Wings Management program is also mandatory.

The pay range for this position is competitive, from $18.00 to $27.40 per hour, reflecting the importance and responsibility of the role within the organization.

 - Willingness to work irregular hours including nights, weekends, holidays and be on-call 24 hours a day
