The cook will handle different types of cooking equipment such as flat top grills, char-broilers, cooktops, waffle bakers, Panini presses, and fryers to prepare diverse menu items. In this position, the cook is responsible not only for cooking but also for preparing and portioning food products prior to cooking to ensure consistency and speed during service periods. The role emphasizes adherence to standard portion sizes, cooking methods, and kitchen policies, ensuring each dish meets Keke's established quality standards. The cook will also be tasked with stocking and maintaining sufficient food levels at line stations to support a smooth and efficient service. Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation is another critical component of this role. The cook will be expected to keep their workstation, including all cooking and refrigeration equipment, clean and orderly at all times. Proper handling, storage, and rotation of food products are vital to uphold food safety guidelines. Additionally, the cook will assist with routine kitchen cleaning and maintenance and participate in opening and closing procedures according to the kitchen's checklist. Collaboration with other kitchen team members and adhering to the guidance of the Kitchen Manager or manager-on-duty are key to sustaining a productive work environment. To excel in this role, candidates should have the physical stamina to work standing up for extended periods and meet the physical demands such as lifting up to 50 pounds. Applicants should be available to work from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm daily, including holidays, as the cafe closes only on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
