The role of a Pastry Chef at Harmons is centered on maintaining quality standards and product levels for all pastries within the bakery. This position involves preparing, cooking, mixing, baking, assembling, packaging, labeling, and decorating baked goods to ensure consistent quality and freshness. The Pastry Chef is also responsible for managing inventory, placing orders, receiving shipments, and storing products correctly to minimize waste and maintain proper stock levels. Additionally, this role requires training and mentoring other pastry chefs, providing honest and constructive feedback, and contributing to scheduling and production planning. The Pastry Chef works closely with bakery management and other departments to meet production targets and maintain hygiene and safety standards throughout the bakery.
This position is offered on an hourly basis, with a salary range of $17.64 to $21.00 per hour, reflecting experience and expertise. It demands a good balance of technical baking skills, organizational abilities, customer service orientation, and leadership qualities. The Pastry Chef must be comfortable working in a fast-paced retail environment, handling multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining a high standard of quality and presentation. Working weekends, evenings, and holidays is part of the job requirements, highlighting the need for flexibility and commitment.
