The Cook Lead position at Corewell Health offers an exciting opportunity for culinary professionals passionate about making a positive impact through nutritious and delicious food. This full-time role based in Grand Rapids within the Nutrition Services - Catering department is integral to the hospital’s food service operations. The Cook Lead oversees hot and cold food production, manages material handlers and stockers, and collaborates closely with supervisory team members to ensure outstanding food quality and service delivery. Working a variable shift from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., including variable weekends, the Cook Lead assumes responsibility for complex recipe preparation, menu planning, and daily production scheduling. This role requires a culinary leader capable of managing day-to-day kitchen operations in the absence of the supervisor, assisting with training and evaluating staff, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. The Cook Lead also contributes to developing creative recipes and menus, preparing purchase orders, and sustaining smooth operational flow within all areas of the Nutrition Services department. • High school diploma or equivalent
• 6 months of relevant experience in food service, preferably in health care setting or related field
• 1 year of relevant experience in supervisory role
