The position of Assistant Kitchen Manager at Knox County Sheriffs Office is an essential role focused on supporting kitchen operations within the county jail system. This role involves assisting the Kitchen Manager in food preparation and the feeding of prisoners, ensuring that food services are handled efficiently, sanitary standards are upheld, and inmates receive meals that meet established guidelines. The Assistant Kitchen Manager is accountable for a range of administrative and operational responsibilities including placing food and supply orders, maintaining inventory, recording invoice details, and compiling reports. Working in a correctional environment, this position also requires strict adherence to security protocols and compliance with PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act) guidelines to maintain safety and prevent sexual abuse or harassment. Candidates will engage in daily cleaning routines to sustain cleanliness in preparation and feeding areas, and they must be prepared to work any shift, any hours, and any days off as operational needs demand. Knox County Sheriffs Office offers this role on an internal and external basis, starting at a minimum hourly rate of $16.45, providing a fair and competitive wage aligned with public sector standards. - Must be able to read and comprehend English language directives, training materials, and other documentation

- Some experience in the food handling industry preferred
