ScionHealth is currently seeking a dedicated Food Service Worker to join their team. This role is vital in preparing and serving food safely and nutritiously to patients, employees, and during special functions. The Food Service Worker ensures that all meals meet nutritional guidelines and safety standards outlined in departmental policies and aligned with FDA regulations. This position requires adherence to strict food handling and sanitation protocols to maintain a clean and safe working environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for portioning food accurately according to standardized recipes and patient diets, managing food inventory by receiving and storing supplies properly, and maintaining kitchen safety by following infection control procedures and operating kitchen equipment responsibly.
In addition to food preparation and service duties, the Food Service Worker will also be involved in menu management. This includes checking new diet orders regularly, assisting patients with menu selections, and using a computerized menu management system to update patient information and generate meal tickets. The position demands strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members. The role may entail leadership responsibilities in the kitchen when assigned and participation in performance improvement initiatives to enhance service quality. This full-time opportunity offers a competitive hourly pay range of $21.00 to $24.70 and includes a comprehensive benefits package encompassing medical, dental, vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending accounts, life insurance, paid time off, and wellness programs.
This position is ideal for individuals with a high school diploma, current or soon-to-be-obtained Food Protection Manager’s Certification from an accredited ANSI-CFP program (mandatory within 90 days of hire), and at least one year of experience in quantity food preparation settings such as hospitals, nursing centers, or restaurants. Candidates who understand therapeutic diets are highly preferred.
