A Food Runner is often the bridge between the kitchen and the dining area, ensuring that orders are accurately relayed from chefs to customers while maintaining the integrity of food safety and sanitation principles. The employment type typically is full-time or part-time with an hourly wage ranging from $14.25 to $22.50 plus tips, representing a competitive compensation package within the food service industry. This role involves a variety of responsibilities, from assisting customers by explaining specials and making meal or drink recommendations to ensuring tables are properly set up with the correct tableware, napkins, and decorations before service begins. The Food Runner must vigilantly uphold food health and safety standards to ensure all guests’ well-being and satisfaction. They are also tasked with removing dirty dishes promptly, checking in with customers to handle any requests, and reporting customer feedback to management to continuously improve service quality.
