The Catering Sales Manager role at Sonesta is a dynamic and integral position within the hotel's food and beverage and events departments. This position is primarily responsible for driving corporate and non-corporate revenue by prospecting for new business and maintaining relationships with repeat clients. Catering Sales Managers work closely with multiple teams such as Sales, Catering, Banquets, and Hotel Operations to orchestrate flawless event execution and client satisfaction from initial inquiry through to event completion. This role requires extensive networking and solicitation activities, including offsite client meetings, menu customization, audio-visual planning, vendor coordination, and overseeing guest accommodations. The Catering Sales Manager plays a pivotal role in the success of a variety of market segments including corporate functions, weddings, fundraisers, social gatherings, educational events, and government contracts.
In addition to client-facing duties, this role involves detailed administrative responsibilities such as managing banquet event orders (BEOs), coordinating tastings and site inspections, maintaining updated revenue forecasts, and assisting the Director of Catering with budget preparation. The ideal candidate must have a strong understanding of food and beverage service styles and be proficient in computer systems such as Delphi and Social Tables, essential tools for catering and event management. A background in guest relations, excellent communication skills, and the physical capability to handle equipment and materials are also important for this role.
