The Event Planning Specialist role within the Marsh McLennan Global Events team is tailored for an ambitious, energetic, creative, and enthusiastic candidate who thrives in fast-paced environments and is passionate about hospitality and event management. This position requires a highly detail-oriented individual who takes initiative and excels at teamwork. The primary responsibility of this role is to manage and produce a variety of internal and external events from their initial conception to successful completion, all while ensuring exceptional client service. The specialist will have the opportunity to work closely with internal stakeholders to plan and execute impactful meetings and events. This includes identifying and securing venues through site inspections and contract negotiations, managing event budgets with financial oversight, and coordinating a variety of event services — from logistics like transportation and accommodations to technical elements such as AV and production. A crucial part of this position involves cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with hotels, restaurants, and other third-party providers to uphold high standards of execution. The Event Planning Specialist will also engage in post-event evaluation, analyzing attendee feedback and event metrics to refine future event strategies. Moreover, this role supports continuous process improvement within the department by optimizing event planning workflows, standardizing budget protocols, and leveraging technology. The position is hybrid, requiring at least four days per week in the New York City office, with about 20% travel for site visits and on-site event management. Candidates must be prepared for a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and extended hours during peak event seasons. The base salary for this role ranges from $64,500 to $128,900, dependent on experience, skill level, and other relevant factors.
