The Social Media Manager role is an exciting opportunity within the Office of Communications Director at the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture Cooperative Extension Service. This professional staff position focuses on managing and expanding the Division’s social media presence across multiple platforms including Facebook, Instagram, X, Pinterest, YouTube, and LinkedIn. The Social Media Manager will be responsible for crafting engaging and accessible digital content daily, encompassing original text, photos, videos, and graphics designed to meet the unique requirements of each platform.
In this role, the Social Media Manager will oversee the day-to-day social media strategy and execution including content planning, account branding, and direct engagement with followers to build a dynamic online community. The position requires proficiency in design and scheduling tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and Social Pilot, along with the ability to analyze social media metrics to continually refine strategies and maximize reach and engagement.
Additionally, the Social Media Manager will provide technical support to employees regarding social media use, maintain governance and best practices for business accounts, plan and conduct training sessions, and attend major Division events to provide live social media coverage. This role demands a proactive and collaborative work ethic, a strong ability to adapt messages for diverse audiences, and expertise in creating accessible and visually compelling digital content that adheres to WCAG standards.
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in digital media production, technical writing, journalism, mass communication, English, or a related field. Preferred candidates bring at least three years of experience managing social media platforms, demonstrated excellence in communication, and a solid background in photography and video production using smartphones and branded content creation. Flexible work hours from Monday to Friday are standard, although some evening and weekend assignments might be required.
