The role of Cashier at California Fish Grill is essential to the restaurant's daily operations. This position involves accurately handling cash and credit card transactions for all menu items purchased by guests throughout the day. The cashier is accountable to both the Restaurant General Manager and the Training General Manager. Primary responsibilities include greeting guests, taking and confirming their food orders, charging the correct prices, handling payments, and providing change when necessary. Additionally, the cashier processes gift card transactions and must maintain thorough knowledge of the restaurant’s menu and pricing. Exceptional guest interaction skills, speed, and accuracy when correcting orders are fundamental to this role. Cashiers are also responsible for verifying age requirements before serving alcoholic beverages and detecting counterfeit money to prevent fraud. Maintaining a neat appearance, personal hygiene, and cleanliness in the work area are required to uphold the restaurant’s standards. The role requires compliance with all safety protocols, confidentiality of sensitive guest information, and cooperation with team members to foster a supportive and efficient work environment. Employees in this role must complete required in-service training, meet attendance and dress code standards, and assist with cleaning and maintaining all equipment used during their shifts.
