The Environmental Services Department within Advocate Health is currently seeking a part-time Environmental Services Technician to perform frontline infection prevention services that ensure a safe, clean, and well-maintained facility for patients, staff, and visitors. This role operates primarily on the second shift, working 21 hours per week, with scheduled hours Monday through Friday from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm, including every other weekend and some holidays. The pay range for this position is $18.50 to $27.75 per hour.
The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for cleaning and disinfecting patient care areas, surgical rooms, public and private restrooms, conference rooms, lobbies, offices, elevators, stairwells, and other facility spaces to maintain an infection-free environment. In addition to standard cleaning duties, the technician assists in cleaning emergency spills and handles the disposal of recyclables, regular trash, and medical waste with strict adherence to infection control guidelines. Duties also include dusting, damp mopping floors, replacing cubicle and window coverings, sorting and stocking linens, and managing supplies such as cleaning products and paper goods efficiently and cost-effectively.
This role requires excellent customer service skills, the ability to follow oral and written instructions, and the capacity to work independently while maintaining a clean and safe environment without disrupting healthcare operations. Basic computer skills are necessary for inventory management and communication purposes. Although no formal education or prior experience is required, the candidate must be reliable, attentive to detail, and able to operate within the department��s policies and procedures.
