The role of Public Areas Attendant at 21c Museum Hotels is essential in maintaining the high standards of cleanliness and appearance that contribute to guest satisfaction and the overall ambiance of the property. Reporting directly to the Housekeeping Manager or Supervisor, Public Areas Attendants will be responsible for cleaning and preparing all public spaces, ensuring they meet the established standards of cleanliness and maintenance. This includes, but is not limited to, cleaning carpets, tile floors, elevators, stairwells, and other common areas. The position involves walking assigned floors to remove trash and service trays, care for carpets through extraction and spot cleaning methods, and assist housekeeping staff as needed with tasks such as removing rollaways and stripping rooms.
This role requires diligence, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing maintenance or cleanliness issues within the hotel. Public Areas Attendants help protect furniture through preventative maintenance practices such as rotating mattresses and box springs. They are also tasked with reporting any missing or found items, damages, and maintenance issues promptly. The position necessitates excellent communication skills to respond to guest requests and questions effectively and to handle guest concerns by reporting them to the appropriate supervisor.
Physical stamina is key for this role, as duties require the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb stairs frequently, bend down repeatedly, and perform various physical tasks throughout the day. Flexibility in scheduling is necessary due to varying occupancy levels and operational needs. While experience in housekeeping and knowledge of carpet and tile care are advantageous, they are not mandatory, as training will be provided. Passing a background check is required for employment.
