This full-time Groundsworker position, located in College Station, TX, offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $17.25 to $25.87, with a hiring range of $17.25 to $18.98. Under the general supervision of the Parks Operations Supervisor, the Groundsworker will perform a variety of manual labor tasks. These tasks are essential for the establishment and upkeep of public parks, grounds, buildings, athletic fields, and related facilities within the city. This role requires physical stamina, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
As a Groundsworker, your primary responsibility will be to ensure that all community parks and recreational grounds are maintained to a high standard. This includes mowing and trimming vegetation, performing turf maintenance, and preparing athletic fields for use. You will also assist with the repair and upkeep of playgrounds and park structures, clean restrooms and city buildings, and perform horticultural tasks involving flowers, trees, and shrubs.
The role demands a strong awareness of safety protocols as you will be expected to inspect facilities regularly, identify potential hazards, and report any incidents to supervisors. Operation and routine maintenance of various groundskeeping equipment is a key component of the job, requiring familiarity and experience with lawn care tools. Additionally, the Groundsworker will support special events and recreational programs by preparing facilities and ensuring an attractive environment.
This position is not only vital to the aesthetic appeal of the city’s parks but also to the safety and overall experience of park users. The successful candidate will be comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, and be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.
