Greystar is a leading, fully integrated global real estate platform that specializes in property management, investment management, development, and construction services focused on institutional-quality rental housing. Founded in 1993 by Bob Faith and headquartered in Charleston, South Carolina, Greystar has grown to become the largest operator of apartments in the United States. The company manages and operates over $300 billion worth of real estate assets across more than 250 markets worldwide, including offices in North America, Europe, South America, and the Asia-Pacific region. With nearly $79 billion of assets under management, which include significant development and regulatory assets, Greystar stands out as a dominant force in the residential rental real estate sector. Their mission centers on providing world-class service in managing rental communities and creating exceptional living environments for residents worldwide.
The role at Greystar focuses on maintaining the physical aspects of residential communities to ensure outstanding standards for grounds, amenities, and curb appeal are consistently met. This position plays a vital role in supporting the service team members by conducting daily inspections of the community to remove litter, debris, and pet droppings in all common areas and amenities. This ensures that residents enjoy a clean and welcoming environment at all times. The role is responsible for preparing vacant apartments by removing trash and items prior to the make-ready process and maintaining storage areas as necessary. Additionally, it includes minor routine service tasks as directed by supervisors and assistance with apartment turn processes.
The responsibilities also cover key safety measures such as changing locks according to property policy, ensuring pool area gates comply with safety codes, and distributing important notices to residents. The role requires vigilant hazard identification to protect residents, guests, and team members, and demands excellent customer service skills to handle inquiries and complaints with respect and professionalism. Compliance with Greystar's safety and risk management policies is essential, including participation in safety meetings, completion of safety-related training, and accurate reporting of incidents.
Working conditions involve standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods and performing physical activities including bending, stooping, climbing ladders, carrying moderate weights, and working in various weather conditions. Flexibility is also important as the role requires availability for call duties during evenings, weekends, and holidays. The position requires a valid driver’s license to operate a golf cart on the property.
Greystar offers a competitive compensation package that may include quarterly or annual bonuses depending on individual and company performance, especially for corporate roles, while onsite positions may benefit from weekly, monthly, or quarterly bonus programs. The company provides robust benefits including competitive medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance coverage with low-cost options for employees. Additionally, generous paid time off is provided, including vacation, personal days, sick time, paid holidays, birthday leave after one year, and expanded vacation with tenure. Onsite team members may access housing discounts at Greystar-managed communities subject to availability. Long-term employees enjoy a paid sabbatical every five years after the initial ten years of service. Other benefits include a 401(k) plan with company match, paid parental leave with fertility benefit reimbursement, employee assistance programs, and additional insurance options such as critical illness and pet insurance.
