Carmel, IN, USA, IN Full-Time $18 - $18
John H. Boner Neighborhood Centers (JBNC) is a well-established nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening and enriching communities in Indianapolis through a variety of vital programs and services. Founded in 1924, JBNC focuses on enhancing educational opportunities, economic development, and health and wellness initiatives for residents of all ages. With a strong commitment to inclusivity and community empowerment, JBNC operates multiple facilities including community centers, residential multifamily units, commercial properties, and office spaces designed to serve the diverse needs of the neighborhoods it supports. These properties are maintained to the highest standards to provide safe, clean, and welcoming environments for residents, visitors, program participants, and staff. The Housekeeping Specialist role at JBNC is a crucial position responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall upkeep of all JBNC properties. This includes community and residential spaces such as corporate offices, classrooms, kitchens, lobbies, and common areas, as well as commercial properties like the Tebo Building, Republic Building, and Art Hub. The specialist will play a key role in ensuring that these spaces remain inviting and functional, which directly supports the organization's mission of creating thriving neighborhoods. This role involves a wide range of housekeeping tasks including sanitizing restrooms and kitchens, dusting, vacuuming, mopping floors, replenishing supplies, and maintaining janitorial equipment and cleaning chemical inventories. Additionally, the Housekeeping Specialist will assist with setup and teardown for community events hosted at JBNC facilities, handle safety and emergency response duties, and manage cleaning schedules across multiple sites. This position requires someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of working independently in a dynamic environment with high pedestrian traffic. The ideal candidate must have a strong commitment to safety and quality, excellent communication and customer service skills, and the physical stamina needed for manual tasks such as lifting heavy objects and working outdoors when necessary. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required due to the multiple property locations that the specialist will service. While at least one year of professional housekeeping experience is preferred, it is not mandatory for the right candidate with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn. Working at the John H. Boner Community Center provides more than just employment; it offers an opportunity to contribute to impactful community development. The Housekeeping Specialist will have a direct influence on making community spaces clean, safe, and welcoming, enhancing the quality of life for residents and supporting vital programs that uplift families and individuals. JBNC values diversity and inclusion, creating a supportive work environment committed to equity and respect for all. The employment opportunity includes comprehensive background checks to ensure safety and compliance with all applicable laws, reflecting the organization's dedication to maintaining a secure workplace for everyone. If you are passionate about creating clean and inviting environments, enjoy working in community-oriented settings, and have the ability to manage varied cleaning responsibilities with professionalism and care, this role at JBNC presents an excellent career opportunity.
