This role is a vital position within the GIANT Company's retail store operations. The primary responsibility is working in the deli and prepared foods section, focused on producing and merchandising various food items including sandwiches, subs, pizzas, roast and fried chicken, appetizers, and soups. The team member will also ensure that products are properly labeled, displayed according to planograms, and maintain sanitation and food safety standards. As a key contributor to customer satisfaction and store efficiency, this role requires attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Team members in this role will be tasked with thoroughly preparing for their shifts by reviewing schedules, checking equipment, and complying with personal protective equipment requirements. Responsibilities include managing production plans, reviewing invoices, and producing products for warmers and hot bars while adhering to standard operating procedures. Ensuring cleanliness by sanitizing work areas, equipment, display cases, floors, and counters is critical to maintaining high food safety standards. Daily food safety compliance logs and loss tracking procedures are part of this role’s accountability. This position also encompasses customer interaction, including making sandwiches and pizzas to order, slicing meats and cheeses, portioning deli items, and assisting customers with grab-and-go products. The successful candidate will manage the roasting and frying of chicken, including the cleaning and maintaining of cooking equipment. Additionally, responsibilities extend to supporting smoked product programs and merchandising all related food displays. Candidates should be physically capable of handling up to 50 pounds of lifting and comfortable working in conditions ranging from refrigerated areas to non-air-conditioned back rooms. A minimum four-hour shift with possible extensions based on business needs is expected. Commitment to safety practices, such as proper lifting, use of PPE, and accident reporting, is mandatory. Training and daily adherence to company policies, including food safety, sanitation, and emergency protocols, are essential to success in this role.
