The Food Service Worker role at City of Hope is vital in supporting the hospital’s culinary and dietary services to ensure patients, caregivers, staff, and visitors enjoy a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment. This position is classified as full-time with a schedule that includes five days a week from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, with rotating weekends and holidays. Compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, and work location.
The Food Service Worker acts as the Culinary Service Representative providing essential support in preparing and maintaining food service areas. This includes handling food items, processing all cash transactions, setting up serving and dining spaces, and ensuring the highest level of customer service. The role demands strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively within a team-oriented environment. The goal is to create a positive and comfortable dining experience aligned with City of Hope’s mission to offer compassionate and holistic care.
Candidates interested in this role should have a minimum of one year of experience in food and beverage service, hospitality, or a high-volume hospital cafeteria setting, along with a high school diploma or equivalent. Holding a current Food Handler’s Permit and certification through an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited food handler training program is required, with ServSafe certification preferred. The ideal individual will be adaptable, organized, and possess strong customer service skills to excel in a busy healthcare setting.                 - High school diploma or equivalent

 - certification from an American National Standards Institute accredited food handler training program or obtained within 30 days of employment
