We are currently seeking an Executive Sous Chef for catering services at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. This role is essential for ensuring the success of the food program by overseeing culinary functions and assisting in all phases of food preparation and service. The Executive Sous Chef will be responsible for coordinating food production, planning menus, managing inventory, and controlling costs to meet the standards set by both the client and health regulations. The position requires a leader who can motivate, train, and develop back-of-house associates while maintaining high standards of freshness, presentation, and food safety. - 5 years of related culinary experience including 1 year at the management level
- Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, health care, and/or related food service operations
- Knowledge of food and industry trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, safety, food cost controls, and presentation
- Ability to set up and distribute production sheets
- Supervisory, leadership, training, management, and coaching skills
- ServSafe or Department of Health Certification is preferred
- Computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products including Excel
- Associate's degree in Culinary Arts is preferred
