For the 2026 cruising season, American Cruise Lines is seeking servers to join their shipboard hotel and restaurant teams. This is a temporary position spanning 28 weeks, ideal for individuals eager to engage in a demanding yet rewarding hospitality role aboard a cruise vessel. The server role is essential in ensuring that guests receive an elegant and memorable dining experience. Servers will be responsible for setting up and breaking down meal periods, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and cocktail hour, taking care to arrange tables with linen, silverware, china, and glassware properly. They cater efficiently to guests’ culinary requests, acknowledge and escort guests to their tables, present menus, suggest appropriate courses and wine pairings, and answer any questions regarding menu items. The role also entails efficiently communicating orders to the galley and serving courses and beverages with care, focus on presentation, and proper garnishing and decoration. Beyond the standard restaurant duties, servers may have additional responsibilities such as greeting guests upon embarkation, assisting with afternoon teas and snacks, and supporting evening entertainment events through catering. This diverse set of duties provides an excellent introduction to the cruise industry, particularly for those interested in establishing a career within hospitality. Compensation for servers ranges from $1,000 to $1,400 per week, supplemented by bonuses.
