The General Manager (GM) role at Potbelly is a pivotal leadership position responsible for the overall success and daily operations of the shop. As the face of Potbelly within your location, you will lead by example, bringing positive energy every day to inspire and motivate your team. You will be accountable for delivering outstanding product quality, exceptional customer service, and strong operational results. The GM must possess the ability to see the "Big Picture" and strategically run the business by coaching and developing employees, maximizing sales, controlling costs, and ensuring smooth shift operations. This role requires multitasking skills and strict adherence to Potbelly’s standard operating procedures. The GM needs to focus on key operational areas including people management, customer satisfaction, sales growth, and profit control. Your leadership will directly impact the morale and productivity of your team, as well as the loyalty and satisfaction of your customers. The position demands physical stamina, with the ability to work up to 45 hours a week, stand and walk for long periods, and perform various physical tasks. Additionally, the GM must maintain a clean, safe, and inviting shop environment. Financial literacy is essential, as you’ll be expected to understand and act on financial reports to drive profitability and sustained growth. Experience in restaurant or retail management with P&L responsibility is preferred, along with strong business acumen and excellent interpersonal skills.
