The Environmental Services role at Ochsner Health focuses on maintaining a clean and aseptic environment across various areas including guest, patient, public, clinical, and administrative settings. This position is critical for ensuring that all spaces within the healthcare facility meet stringent cleanliness and safety standards. The responsibilities of this job include cleaning assigned areas maintaining environmental closets and equipment in a sanitary and orderly state, assisting in restocking cafes and bars when necessary, and participating in special cleaning projects and room turnovers. Compliance with regulations from bodies such as The Joint Commission and CMS related to Environment of Care and cleaning requirements is mandatory.
Candidates will be expected to operate various cleaning equipment like dust mops, wet mops, buckets and wringers, spray bottles, and dustpans. Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to understand and communicate effectively in English, and a basic knowledge of housekeeping are essential. Flexibility in work schedules and the capability to complete tasks with minimal supervision are also important for success in this role.
Moreover, this role demands physical stamina due to the heavy nature of the work which may involve exerting significant force to move objects and exposure to chemicals and potentially biohazardous materials. Employees are supported through training and accommodations to safely conduct their duties.
