The role of a Food Service Worker is integral to the day-to-day operations of the café and retail food service areas. This position primarily involves the production of hot and cold foods, slicing fruits, vegetables, desserts, and meats for retail sales, and ensuring all food items meet compliance standards for safety and quality. The Food Service Worker is responsible for setting up café sales areas, stocking necessary food and paper products, and frequently monitoring temperatures of food and equipment to uphold regulatory standards. Documentation and immediate reporting of any discrepancies are critical components of the job. Other responsibilities include maintaining refrigeration units and display cases, inventory management through requisition and restocking of supplies, proper food labeling and packaging, as well as the preparation of beverages such as coffee, juice, and smoothies. Maintaining hygiene and sanitation throughout the work area and the café serving and seating areas is essential, including deep cleaning tasks and equipment sanitization. The Food Service Worker may also engage in cooking duties at grills and fryers as necessary and supports other team functions as requested. Candidates for this role should possess a fundamental knowledge of food safety, operations in food service environments, and maintenance of cleanliness standards. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, and experience in restaurant or food service operations is advantageous. Additionally, compliance with mandatory abuse reporting training within three months of hire is required.
