Tops Friendly Markets is currently seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals for the position of Deli Clerk. This role is integral to the company’s prepared foods operations and involves ensuring that all deli products are stored, prepared, and maintained according to health and safety regulations. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing friendly and attentive customer service, answering customer inquiries about deli items such as ready-made meals, packaged salads, and subs. The position requires adherence to strict food handling, preparation, and packaging standards to maintain product quality and safety. The Deli Clerk will maintain sanitary conditions within the deli area by following the company’s “clean as you go” policy and complying with all federal, state, and local regulations related to food safety and sanitation. Keeping proper shelf, cooler, and case conditions including stocking, cleaning, and rotating products is also part of the daily duties. The clerk will be expected to follow recipes accurately and process products correctly to ensure the highest quality of prepared foods are available for customers at all times. Additionally, this role involves monitoring equipment such as hot and cold cases, ovens, fryers, and other deli appliances to ensure they are operating at the correct temperatures and in good working order. Accurate record-keeping through necessary paperwork and following the direction of the Deli Manager are important components as well. The role may require flexibility in hours and tasks, and candidates must be willing to work shifts that best fit the store's needs. • Must be at least 18 years of age to enter/work on the deli side of the department
• Must be at least 18 years of age to operate knives, ovens, fryers, pizza ovens, food processors, dishwasher, and other specialized equipment
• Must be able to follow Federal, State, and Local food safety and sanitation regulations
• Must be able to maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions in the work area
• Must have good communication skills
• Ability to work flexible shifts and perform multiple tasks as assigned
• Physical capability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks
