You will be expected to load, unload, service, guide, and direct customer aircraft in a safe and timely manner. This includes lifting, sorting, and transferring various items to and from aircraft bins, belt loaders, or baggage carts following strict safety protocols.
The role requires operation of motorized equipment such as pushback tugs, belt loaders, air start units, lift trucks, and deicers. Maintaining effective communication with wing walkers to ensure equipment safety during operations is critical. You will also be responsible for receiving and recording details of customer baggage, airfreight, mail, and company materials as part of daily tasks. Further, transporting cargo and baggage to and from aircraft, preparing accurate records, and completing all paperwork related to the assignments are integral parts of the position.
This position demands a high level of physical fitness as there is frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling of heavy items, sometimes weighing up to or more than 70 pounds, along with the ability to work in varied and sometimes challenging environments. Successful candidates must be prepared to perform duties that require walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, crawling, and stooping frequently and for extended durations. The work environment may involve cramped or elevated spaces, and the ability to handle logistics on jet way stairs is necessary.
Employment in this role is contingent upon passing background and drug screening, and candidates must complete ramp and Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) training to gain required airport authority identification security clearance. - Must be a local (in-state) resident
- Valid in-state driver's license
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
- Ability to pass up to a 10-year background check
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
- Must complete ramp and SIDA training to obtain airport authority identification security
- Must be able to lift/carry/push/pull and move items of 70 pounds and/or more on a regular basis and repetitively lift weights of 40 to 50 pounds on raised surfaces
- Must be able to walk, climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop on a frequent basis and for extended periods
- Must be able to work in cramped or high places
- Must be able to carry heavy items up and down jet way stairs
- High school diploma or GED
