The role of Customs Entry Coordinator at FedEx Logistics is a vital position responsible for coordinating the documentation required by U.S. Customs and other government agencies to facilitate the legal entry of goods into the United States on behalf of importers. This full-time position operates Monday through Friday during the first shift from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It demands close attention to detail and an in-depth understanding of customs regulations and procedures to ensure compliance with international importing and exporting laws.
In this role, the coordinator's primary responsibility is to manage and process all necessary import documentation efficiently and accurately. This involves obtaining accurate classification of goods for customs release from various resources like the internal database, tariff books, SOPs, internet platforms, or directly from customs guidelines. The coordinator must also handle data entry and submit import-related paperwork to U.S. Customs and Participating Government Agencies (PGAs) while maintaining updated and compliant shipment documentation records.
Customer service excellence is a hallmark of this position, requiring coordination and collaboration with internal departments, other FedEx operational companies, government agencies, customers, carriers, brokers, and management at all levels. The ability to manage high volumes of work, meet time-sensitive deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision is essential. The role also involves processing agency brokerage shipments, remote filings, performing entry reconciliations and reviews, and resolving customs-related problems promptly.
FedEx Logistics values employees who are proficient in multiple systems and reference materials, especially those with detailed knowledge of customs regulations and the harmonized tariff schedule. Candidates with a Customs Broker License (CCS) or broker's license are preferred. The role entails regular use of MS Office software, Outlook, and office equipment like phones, fax machines, photocopiers, printers, and scanners. Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this position.
