The position falls under the Food Service bargaining unit and operates under a staff level of 03 with non-exempt FLSA status, meaning it is eligible for overtime compensation. The work schedule alternates between two weekly patterns, ensuring coverage over different days with shifts typically from 12:15 pm to 8:45 pm. The Cook Helper is essential in assisting the cooking staff by following detailed instructions and established procedures to perform various helper duties. These tasks largely include preparing and handling simple meats, casseroles, convenience foods, and other food items, ensuring proper food storage and sanitation, and maintaining health and safety standards in the kitchen.
