The Cook position at Cascadia Healthcare involves the preparation and service of food for residents, employees, and special events adhering to high standards of food safety and handling. This role requires culinary skills that ensure food tastes good, is served at the correct temperature, and presented attractively in accordance with prescribed menus and dietary needs, including therapeutic diets. The cook will work closely with the Culinary Manager to prepare menu items using standardized recipes, manage alternative meal options for individual preferences, and maintain temperatures and hygiene standards meticulously.
The role demands proficiency in quantity food production, accurate portion control, and the ability to clean and maintain the kitchen environment safely and efficiently. The cook is also responsible for monitoring refrigerator and freezer temperatures, labeling and storing food properly, and assisting in inventory management to minimize waste. - High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- ServSafe Food Safety Certification required
- Food Handlers permit if required per state regulations
- Six months experience in large quantity food preparation
- Experience with therapeutic diet preparation preferred
- Six months experience in a long term care environment preferred
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to do basic math
- Ability to read and write at a level appropriate for the job
