Located at Varenita of Westlake Village, Sunrise Senior Living is currently seeking a dedicated Cook to join their dining services team. This role is crucial in ensuring that residents receive quality meals that meet specific dietary requirements while complying with all food safety and sanitation standards. The Cook will use their culinary expertise and experience in food production to prepare and serve meals timely and according to established recipes, maintaining high standards for taste and quality at all times. The position requires adherence to safety regulations, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and compliance with occupational health guidelines. Responsible for managing the kitchen in the absence of the Dining Services Coordinator, the Cook must demonstrate professionalism, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to team collaboration. The Cook will play an active role in maintaining cleanliness, organizing kitchen and storage areas, and ensuring all cooking equipment is operational and safe. This role also involves assisting in the dining areas as needed and supporting overall team engagement by participating in meetings and adhering to internal training programs. • One year of job related experience including food preparation in a restaurant, hotel, or similar environment
• High school diploma or GED
• Current CPR and first aid certificates
• ServSafe manager certification
• Local health department food handler card
• Ability to maintain safety standards and food sanitation requirements
• Ability to perform cleaning and janitorial duties
• Ability to operate dish machines
• Ability to work flexibly and assist in dining area service
• Ability to comply with health and safety regulations
