This non-exempt position involves directly engaging with customers by greeting them warmly, assisting with locating products, and ensuring a positive shopping experience. The Cashier will be responsible for various duties including identifying different fruits and vegetables, accurately applying produce codes, and adhering strictly to sales policies concerning age-restricted items such as alcohol and tobacco. They must also be knowledgeable about WIC and EBT transaction procedures to ensure compliance with state laws and company guidelines. In addition to providing excellent customer interaction, Cashiers at Vallarta handle cash register operations responsibly. This includes following established money handling procedures and payment protocols to ensure that the cash drawer is balanced correctly at the end of each shift. A key part of this role is maintaining a friendly, courteous attitude while working collaboratively with co-workers to foster a positive store environment. The position demands flexibility, including the ability to work weekends and holidays and accommodate transfers to other store locations within reasonable commuting distance.
