The position of Career Strategist at Penn State Lehigh Valley is a pivotal role within the Advising and Career Strategy team, reporting directly to the Director of Advising and Career Strategy. This role is designed for a dynamic individual who is passionate about building strong partnerships with employers, community organizations, and educational institutions to expand career opportunities for students and alumni. The Career Strategist is tasked with developing and sustaining relationships with local and regional employers to understand their hiring needs and to secure internships, cooperative education opportunities, and jobs. This is part of a new initiative that spans the entire commonwealth campus system, emphasizing customized recruitment strategies and initiatives that align with the evolving job market. Beyond employer relations, the Career Strategist will engage extensively with various community stakeholders, acting as a liaison to address workforce needs and promote opportunities for students and alumni. The role requires a creative and organized approach to event planning and execution, coordinating employer-focused activities such as career fairs, networking sessions, and panels, as well as community outreach workshops and seminars. An essential function of this role includes counseling students on career readiness, providing resume reviews, and supporting job search activities to foster successful internship and employment outcomes. Moreover, the Career Strategist will be responsible for marketing the programs and events through multiple channels including social media and campus communication platforms to increase engagement. They will also assess the effectiveness of these programs and recommend improvements to ensure continual growth and relevance. Maintaining accurate records and compiling reports on employer and student engagement, as well as on placements, forms part of the administrative duties. This position requires a professional with significant experience and education, varying by the level of appointment: the Senior Professional role requires a Master’s Degree and over six years of relevant experience, while the Advanced Professional role requires a Bachelor’s Degree with at least three years of experience. Both levels demand strong interpersonal skills, an ability to work independently and collaboratively, and dedication to serving the student population effectively. The salary range for this position is competitive, spanning from $51,000 to $89,600 annually, reflecting the qualifications and experience required.
