The role of a Porter at Gerber Collision & Glass is crucial in complementing the quality repairs performed by aligning with the company's WOW standards. The Porter’s primary responsibility is to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of customer vehicles before delivery, ensuring that every vehicle looks its best when returned to the customer. This requires a strong attention to detail and a commitment to customer satisfaction. The Porter also contributes to the organization and upkeep of the shop and office areas, keeping these spaces safe, clean, and neatly arranged. Duties include daily housekeeping tasks such as emptying garbage cans, sweeping floors, dusting surfaces, and managing waste disposal. Additionally, the role involves maintaining parking lots and grounds and potentially even light snow removal during winter months. Another key function is pre-washing customer vehicles ahead of repair work and performing thorough interior and exterior cleaning when repairs are complete. The Porter will also be responsible for transporting vehicles to and from sublet locations for specific repairs, which requires a valid driver's license and safe driving practices. This position requires physical capability, including lifting up to 50 pounds, standing or walking for extended periods, and the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as needed. The ideal candidate will be at least 18 years old, have clear close vision and automotive experience is preferred but not required. Being trustworthy, reliable, and having a positive attitude are essential attributes for success in this role.
