The role of Shift Leader at Sweetgreen is a critical leadership position that supports daily restaurant operations while championing the company’s mission of building healthier communities through real food. As a Shift Leader, you will take on the responsibility of guiding and motivating a team by exemplifying Sweetgreen's core values during every shift. This role requires a dynamic leader who can manage various operational aspects, including food safety, customer service, team coordination, and quality assurance, all while maintaining an upbeat and inclusive environment where every team member and guest feels welcome. You will step into various stations as needed, especially during busy periods, ensuring seamless service and adherence to food safety protocols. Beyond supervising the team, Shift Leaders handle customer concerns directly, with a specific focus on allergy safety and order accuracy to prevent cross-contamination. You will oversee multiple tasks simultaneously, from managing line operations and using tech tools to interacting with guests, necessitating strong multitasking and communication skills. Clear verbal communication, problem-solving abilities, and emotional regulation under pressure are essential qualities for success in this role. Additionally, you will perform duties aligned with the Kitchen Lead role as needed, encompassing team member functions and supervisory responsibilities. The ideal candidate for Shift Leader possesses proven leadership experience, excellent communication skills, and a talent for fostering a positive team culture. Experience in fast-paced environments such as restaurants, retail, or hospitality is essential, as is the capability to manage schedules, coach employees, and oversee performance. Preferred certifications, such as a Food Handler or ServSafe certificate, will further enhance your qualifications. This position requires employees to be authorized to work in the U.S., at least 18 years old, and able to commit to at least 30 hours per week. • Meet all minimum requirements of the Kitchen Lead role including those of team members
• 1+ year of experience in a shift leader or supervisor role
• Experience in fast-paced environments such as restaurant retail or hospitality
• Ability to coordinate multiple tasks while maintaining operational standards
• Ability to speak read write and understand the primary language(s) of the work location
• Must be able to work at least 30 hours per week
• Must be 18 years of age or older
