The hiring organization is an established air traffic control facility operating a Visual Flight Rules (VFR) Air Traffic Control Tower. This facility plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient management of aircraft within its designated airspace, focusing on the smooth flow of air traffic at the airport it serves. The organization prioritizes safety, order, and expeditious management of air traffic, working under the guidelines and regulatory standards set by national aviation authorities. The work environment is dynamic and requires adept decision-making skills and clear communication to manage the complex demands of air traffic control effectively. The position available is for a qualified Air Traffic Control Tower Operator responsible for managing the orderly flow of air traffic within the VFR Air Traffic Control Tower. Detailed instructions are provided for new or revised procedures, with ongoing evaluation to ensure competency and safety. The operator is accountable for making critical decisions related to the sequencing and separation of departing and arriving aircraft, managing runway use, and communicating with pilots and other control facilities to ensure safety and efficiency. This role involves monitoring and using various navigational aids and communication frequencies, instructing pilots on changes required to maintain safety, and coordinating with other controllers on aircraft movements. Operators also perform preplanning for traffic sequencing, maintain mental situational awareness, and handle various operational tasks involving weather monitoring, pilot orientation, and control of airfield lighting systems. The position requires an individual who is alert, capable of managing high-stress situations, and adept at multitasking in a fast-paced aviation environment. Employment in this role is subject to stringent regulatory standards including drug and alcohol testing per DOT/FAA requirements. Candidates must hold a Control Tower Operator Certificate (CTO) with a facility rating or an FAA credential with a tower rating and have a minimum of six months of experience in an Air Traffic Control Tower.
