The role of Program Director at Alabama State University’s WVAS Radio Station is a leadership position responsible for overseeing and coordinating all programming activities of the station. Working closely with the Station Manager, the Program Director ensures that every aspect of the station's programming aligns with its mission, strategic growth goals, licensee directives, and federal broadcasting regulations. The position demands creating and managing the monthly broadcast schedule, determining and implementing the programming format, and supervising all on-air announcers, including scheduling and hiring recommendations. This director-level role also involves coordinating with engineers for station repairs, managing remote events and live specials, and developing innovative programming in collaboration with managers and hosts. Additionally, the Program Director is expected to manage the station’s social media presence, oversee the FTP site, and compile comprehensive reports for audits and grant surveys. The role necessitates strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams including staff, consultants, students, and volunteers. - Bachelor's degree in communications or a relevant field
