The role available at the Philadelphia, PA store is a dynamic position focused on planing, coordinating, and facilitating events, particularly children’s birthday parties, within the Michaels store. The main goal of this position is to create a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience tailored to guests ranging broadly in age from 4 to 94 and beyond. This role requires a friendly and approachable customer service mindset, assisting customers in their shopping needs and ensuring they have a positive checkout experience. The job also entails completing operational tasks such as truck unloading, stocking merchandise, and maintaining store recovery standards to uphold Michaels’ Brand Promises. In this event coordination specialist position, you will be responsible for managing multiple events simultaneously, such as crafting classes and children's birthday parties, and delivering these events in a creative and engaging manner. The duties include demonstrating craft projects, performing activities like face painting, handling party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons, and maintaining communication with clients and team members. Administrative tasks like responding to emails, making phone calls, and paperwork completion are integral to this role. Flexibility and adaptability are critical, as plans must sometimes be adjusted based on client feedback, with backup plans prepared to ensure seamless event execution and client satisfaction. Moreover, the role reinforces the company’s cleanliness and safety standards, requiring setup, breakdown, and thorough cleaning before and after events. Customer experience responsibilities extend beyond the event itself, encompassing assistance with product location, engagement with loyalty programs and credit card enrollments, and facilitating Omni channel processes like Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS). The role demands participation in various store operational activities including truck unloading, stocking, planogram adherence, merchandise recovery, store cleanliness, and support of shrink and safety programs. Experience in working with children and hosting children’s events is especially preferred, alongside a personality that is energetic, enthusiastic, and engaging. Physically, the role requires standing for extended periods, moving about the store, regular bending and lifting, with occasional use of ladders to access high shelves.
