The role of the Paramedic at Acadian Ambulance Service is vital to the emergency medical team. This position requires professionals who can provide prompt, efficient, and appropriate pre-hospital care including the administration of advanced, intermediate, and basic life support services under applicable local, state, and national regulations as well as company protocols. Paramedics at Acadian are responsible for ensuring patient safety and comfort through careful examination and handling, effective communication with receiving medical personnel, and accurate documentation of patient care activities. The role involves working with various advanced medical equipment such as cardiac monitors, defibrillators, oxygen delivery systems, advanced airway devices, and more. Candidates selected for this hourly, non-exempt position will report to the Operations Supervisor and Manager as well as the Vice President of Operations and will be participating in vital, life-saving missions around the clock. The role also entails responsibilities beyond direct patient care, including ambulance and equipment maintenance, station duties, inventory management, and the potential to serve as a Field Training Officer responsible for mentoring new staff and students. The position demands strong interpersonal skills, physical stamina, and adherence to safety and communication regulations to operate effectively in diverse, sometimes hazardous, environments. Paramedics must demonstrate not only medical knowledge and technical proficiency but also a professional and empathetic approach to patient care.
